Have you noticed buying more gray this season? How about deep red or a rich cinnamon? You may have wondered where this strange desire to change your wardrobe has come from. 

On our end, we've been obsessed with gray. Even though we didn't particularly care for it before, this season all we can see is luscious shades of ash and deep shadows of charcoal. 

But there is an explanation to this new love - these colors are trending this Fall and have been subtly and not so subtly infused into every store decor, every clothing rack and every Pinterest pin you've saved to your inspiration board. 

Pantone calls Fall 2016 a combination of unity, strength and complexity and says that 'the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism have inspired a Fall 2016 color palette that is led by the Blue family. Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors also appear throughout the collections.' (source)

Why these colors in particular and what does it all mean? Pantone explains it all for us again: 

"Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic." (source)

So whether it is gray or deep red that you have a craving for this season, our only advice is - allow yourself to indulge. Get that gorgeous oversized sweater in charcoal, and don't forget about a deep red Merino wool blanket too.
